On the right in the entrance corridor, a second doorway with entrance into room 2, can be seen.
This doorway would have given access to the upper floor, reached by a staircase.
The other doorway of room 2 is in the north-east corner of the atrium.

IX.2.17 Pompeii. March 2009. Looking west along entrance corridor towards room 1, atrium.
The remains of the impluvium can be seen in the centre of the atrium.
According to PPP, the central floor of the atrium and impluvium were of cocciopesto.
The impluvium was of cocciopesto with decoration outlined in white tesserae (a net of meanders and squares): the edge was probably moulded but had perished.

According to Warscher – this room had a window overlooking Vicolo di Tesmo.
The paintings from the walls had vanished without leaving any trace.

IX.2.17 Pompeii. March 2009. Room 1, restored arca/money chest base, in atrium.
IX.2.17 Pompeii. 1932. Room 1, arca/money box, chest base, in atrium.
According to Pernice –
this was found in the atrium, left from the entrance. It was built onto the wall.
Between the base
and the wall is a narrow protective wall made of bricks, probably protecting against
moisture.
